Photography as Art In this introduction, the idea of photography being art was discussed quite a bit. Photography has always been art. It was also discussed how photography was used, or thought to be used, as a way of recording the 'truth' of life itself. However, this is quite the opposite. Photography has always been altered in some way, shape, or form. During the beginning of photography back in the mid 1800s, photographers would alter photos using certain techniques in the darkroom during the printing process. Whether it be bad lighting, odd placement, or what have you, photography has always been altered to look better. Photography even to this day utilizes photoshop to add or subtract objects from images. There's a wide range of different genres from landscape to abstract photography and all are considered art.
